Riverside Files

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 8, 2026 · Last updated: August 25, 2026

This is a draft, not a filed policy. Contact details are filled in below, and as of 25 August 2026 the services listed in Section 2 have been checked one by one against what the app actually integrates — the earlier draft named an ad mediator and an attribution SDK that were never wired in, and predated cloud save entirely. It still needs review by someone qualified in your jurisdiction before it goes live or is submitted to an app store.

01 Information we collect

Riverside Files does not require an account to play, and we don't ask for your name or any other directly-identifying information in order to run the game.

Cloud save is the one exception, and it is entirely optional. If you choose to turn it on in Settings, you sign in with Google or Apple and we receive the email address associated with that account (Apple lets you hide it, and a hidden address works fine here). Nothing asks you to sign in — there is no prompt anywhere in the game — and everything works without it.

The following is collected automatically as part of normal operation:

02 Third-party services

We use the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, linked below — we encourage you to review them.

ServicePurposeData involved
Google AdMobAdvertising, and the EU/UK consent form (UMP)Advertising ID, ad interaction events
Firebase AnalyticsGameplay/product analyticsApp usage events, device identifiers
Firebase CrashlyticsCrash reportingDevice model, OS version, stack traces
Firebase Remote ConfigTuning game values without an app updateApp instance identifier
Firebase AuthenticationSigning in to cloud save, if you enable itEmail address, account identifier
Google Cloud FirestoreStoring your saved game, if you enable cloud saveYour game progress, account identifier
OneSignalPush notifications (e.g. offline-earnings reminders)Device push token

Apple App Store / Google PlayPurchase processingPurchase receipts (no card data reaches us)

On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt lets you decline tracking used for ad personalization; declining doesn't prevent you from playing the game. Users in the EU/UK are shown a consent management platform on first launch to manage ad and analytics consent under GDPR.

03 How we use information

We do not sell your personal information.

04 Local storage & offline play

Your case fees, upgrades, hired detectives, and other progress are saved locally on your device, encrypted, under a key held in your device's own secure keystore. This is what allows cases to keep resolving — and offline earnings to keep accruing — even while the app is closed.

Cloud save is off unless you turn it on. With it off, nothing about your game leaves the device, and uninstalling the app or clearing app data erases it permanently.

If you turn it on in Settings and sign in with Google or Apple, we keep one copy of your saved game in Google Cloud Firestore, stored against your account identifier. Security rules restrict that copy so it can only be read or written by the signed-in account it belongs to. You can sign out at any time, which leaves the copy on your device untouched, and "Delete my data" in Settings erases both the copy in the cloud and the one on your device.

05 Children's privacy

Riverside Files is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region) and is rated above the Kids category on both app stores. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us using the details in Section 9 and we'll remove it.

06 Your rights

You can delete everything from inside the app, without contacting us. Settings → "Delete my data" erases your saved game on the device and, if cloud save is on, the stored copy and its account link as well.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export the information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California). To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 9. Because most of what we hold is device-linked identifiers rather than named accounts, we may ask you for information that helps us locate the relevant records (such as your device's advertising ID).

07 Data retention

Locally-stored gameplay data persists on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data. Analytics and attribution data held by our third-party providers is retained according to each provider's own retention policy, typically [e.g., 14–26 months], after which it is deleted or anonymized.

08 Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where required by law, notify you through the app before the changes take effect.
